The emerging field of exercise oncology has presented a lot of research to support the benefits of exercise during cancer treatment and recovery. Programs for cancer recovery need to be individualised to the person and take into account your treatment status, disease stage, functional capacity, physical limitations, exercise history and preferences.

Exercise can help to improve:

  • Strength and endurance
  • Energy levels
  • Physical function and range of motion
  • Immune function
  • Side effects of treatment
  • Cardiorespiratory fitness

Regular exercise can also help to decrease the chance of cancer reoccurrence.
